Kathy Quan RN BSN PHN is the owner and editor-in-chief of THE NURSING SITE. She has over 35 years of experience as a nurse. She earned her BSN PHN at California State University, Los Angeles. Her primary focus has been home health care and hospice where she has had to become somewhat of a "jack of all trades." She has been a field nurse, nursing supervisor, staff educator, and a QI (quality improvement) specialist for a variety of non-profit and for-profit home health and hospice agencies throughout Los Angeles and Ventura counties. Currently she is a QI specialist for a large, growing hospice.
Kathy's passion is mentoring new nurses and encouraging anyone interested in the nursing field to pursue their dreams at any age. Her writing here and on her other sites and blogs is meant to inform and to encourage others to continue to seek information. Nursing is a lifelong learning experience. Sharing knowledge, experiences and information serves to make the nursing community stronger and better able to serve our patients.
Kathy has also been an award-winning blogger and author for many years. For over 3 years, Kathy was the Guide to Nursing at About.com. The site was closed in November 2007 when About.com combined it into a site for all health careers. Many of the articles Kathy wrote for Nursing.About.com have been transferred to and updated for this site and it's companion blog, The Nursing Site Blog.
